Amie Neri

Visual artist

Italian painter, Amie Nerie, extrapolates useful ideas from philosophy and psychology and processes them into modalities of her subconscious free spirit to represent absent and abstract things as present. Nerie starts from a recurring formal methodology and guides the spectator into her multilayered world of painted existential parables.

Amie Neri

Reduction and distortion of the background created by converting countless dark tones into different textures as feelings of desolation are reinforced by the absorption of the material of your projected fears, embodied in the empty figurative chairs, into a funnel-shaped plain of abstract emptiness or nothingness. When you immerse yourself in her painting you are in an intermediate, confrontational, phase: the phase between life, the figurative recognizable elements, and death, the abstract ignorant. The aesthetic, almost therapeutic, experience that results from this is the renunciation of your ego to the the moment in all its imperfection and elusiveness. In short, this incomprehensible experience has a relieving effect and makes a brief end to the act of thinking and suffering for nothing.
