Emmanuelle De Prins

Visual artist

Emmanuelle was born in Brussels in 1981. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Art History at the University of Louvain La-Neuve. After which she stu- died archaeology and Egyptology in the same university. During and after her studies she continued to practice different techniques.
As an up-and-coming painter she has a flair for earthy colours and mythological/historical references. An outcome of her studies, these references are linked to Latin America, especially Argentina. The paintings are inspired by Colombian art and, more specifically, the spiritual symbols of the Mapuche tribe. Moreover, the flowing abstract background is an ode to her artistic mentor, a renowned French painter. The dichotomy between these figurative symbols and the abstract back- ground artistically depict her congruence of personal connections of the past and perception of the present.
